In
order to provide maximum flexibility, The
EZ-Pilot offers three levels of navigation.
1. Track mode (TRK)
This mode is
used for navigation by tracking a stored
GPS flight plan (or GOTO data).
To
use this feature,
simply enter a
flight plan into the GPS and press the Servo button and
press the Mode button to enter into TRK mode; the EZ Pilot
then precisely tracks the flight plan. |

2. Course mode (CRS)
Course mode provides vector navigation by tracking a specific
pilot-selected course, not previously stored in a GPS unit.
CRS mode uses GPS signal to provide the aircraft’s ground track.
To
use this feature,
a pilot would press the Mode button to enter into CRS mode. Then,
select a new bearing using the "L-R". The new bearing will
be displayed on the readout screen and the aircraft will now track
the selected bearing. |

3. Intercept
mode (INT)
Intercept mode is used to intercept a predefined GPS desired
track, or to steer the airplane back to the original flight plan.
INT mode uses GPS signal to provide the aircraft’s ground track.
To use this feature,
a pilot would press the Mode button to enter into INT mode. The
EZ Pilot would then steer the aircraft toward an intercept course
to the centerline of a selected flight plan. The EZ Pilot will
approach the centerline at a 25 degree angle, and switch to TRK
mode at a distance from the centerline that is appropriate for the
aircraft speed and the selected turn rate. If the pilot wishes a
sharper or more gradual intercept angle, he or she may use the L-R
switch to alter the intercept course over the ground.

Displays
Satisfying the need of every pilot is important to Trio Avionics.
This is the reason the EZ Pilot is available in two (2) different
types of display.
Owners
of aircrafts with large clear canopies will find a LCD (Liquid Crystal
Display) more readable in high ambient light, while the VFD (Vacuum
Fluorescent Display) stands out when the instrument panel is shaded
from the sun.
